Guinea has won the drawing of lots for a spot in the African Cup of Nations quarter-finals.

The number 2, printed on a piece of paper and stuffed inside a green ball, was drawn out of a bowl by a team representative at a hotel in Malabo.

The representative from Mali drew the number 3. The numbers decided the placings in Group D.

Guinea will next face Ghana on Sunday in the quarter-finals, while Mali have been eliminated.

The two teams were forced to draw lots after finishing all three of their group matches 1-1. The Ivory Coast won the group by beating Cameroon 1-0 on Wednesday and will next face Algeria.

    Quarter-finals:

    January 31
Congo v Democratic Republic of Congo
    Tunisia v Equatorial Guinea

    February 1
