Deaths in Ebola outbreak continue to rise

Obama calls for collective action to meet challenge as WHO says Liberia accounts for majority of West Africa’s deaths.

The number of people killed by the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is now more than 3,000. The World Health Organisation says the majority of the deaths happened in Liberia.

Against this backdrop, US President Barack Obama, speaking at a global health security summit in Washington, said no country could meet the challenge of Ebola on its own.
