Thousands struggle in flood-hit Pakistan

Pakistan’s government says this month’s flooding will cost the economy about $15bn.  Flood waters reached Sindh province on Friday, and the Indus River was able to cope with most of the surge.

But upstream in Punjab 2.5 million people have been affected after two major rivers flooded large parts of the north.

Rescue workers say they are facing problems because people are not cooperating with them and some are even refusing to leave their flood-hit homes.

At least 7,000 people from the poorest and most vulnerable communities are now living in the middle of the main road.
