Kurdish forces struggle to defend positions

Peshmerga commander battling ISIL says he will welcome participation of foreign forces in Iraq combat operations.

While the US says 30 nations support its military strategy to defeat ISIL, none of them have committed ground troops to fight alongside Iraqi forces.
 
American defence officials are not ruling out US troop participation in Iraqi combat missions, which is something Kurdish forces who are struggling to defend their positions from ISIL fighters in northern Iraq would welcome.
