Concern for migrants as Ebola reaches Senegal

Fears of backlash against Guinean migrant population after student from country tests positive for virus in Senegal.

Senegal needs urgent help to contain the Ebola virus after it confirmed its first case, the World Health Organisation has said.

With more than 400 people dying of the virus in neighbouring Guinea, Senegal had sealed off its 300km border, hoping to prevent the virus from entering the country.

On Friday, a student from Guinea tested positive in the Senegalese capital, Dakar triggering concerns of a backlash against the Guinean migrant population.

Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports from Dakar.
