In Pictures: Deadly landslides hit Hiroshima

Western Japan is paying the price for one of the wettest early August spells on record.

A series of deadly landslides has killed at least 27 people in western Japan with another 10 reported as missing.

The landslides occurred in Hiroshima’s Asaminami and Asakita wards, between 1820 and 1900 GMT on Tuesday (0320 and 0400 on Wednesday local time).

Rescue workers have been braving torrents of water as they sift through damaged building, searching for any survivors.
