Warring militias fight for Libya’s capital

Violence forces thousands to flee as rival militias battle for control of Libya’s capital, Tripoli.

Fighting between rival militias has continued to rage in Libya’s capital forcing thousands to flee the country and prompting a number of embassies and international companies to evacuate their staff.

The violence comes less than a week before the UN sends a special envoy to help broker a ceasefire – a move that thousands of Libyans have protested against, calling it foreign intervention.

Al Jazeera’s Caroline Malone reports.
