Police in Somalia say seven people have been killed and eight injured after fighting broke out between Somali soldiers, supported by African Union troops, and fighters loyal to a former city official.
The government says Ahmed Dai’s guards fired on troops first, but his supporters accuse the Somali army of a politically motivated attack.
Four civilians were among the dead.
