Venezuela-Colombia push to quell smuggling
In effort to fight smuggling of goods and drug trafficking, the two Latin American countries shuts border for one month.

Venezuela and Colombia have started closing their shared border every night for a month, in hopes to curb the smuggling of subsidised food and gasoline to Colombia.
The measure is important because of the dramatic difference in the price of essential goods in both countries.
A litre of gasoline in Venezuela is just under two cents, while in Colombia it costs $1.12.
Al Jazeera’s Alessandro Rampietti reports from Cucuta on the Venezuela-Colombia border, where opinions remain divided on the issue.
