UN warns of potential Yazidi massacre in Iraq

Some 20,000 Yazidis trapped on mountains after fleeing Islamic State group fighters, as UN calls on world to do more.

The UN has said that up to 20,000 Yazidis trapped in the moutains of northern Iraq risk being massacred by fighters belonging to the Islamic State group.

Secretary general Ban Ki-Moon has urged the world to do more to protect Iraqi civilians caught up in the conflict between Sunni rebels led by the Islamic State group and Kurdish and Iraqi security forces.
