In Pictures: Detroit hit by freak storm

The US city has seen some of the heaviest rain on record, bringing traffic to a standstill.

An area of low pressure has brought torrential rain to the US state of Michigan on Monday. Detroit was badly affected; traffic in the ‘Motor City’ came to a halt and operations at both General Motors and Chrysler were hit.
