Iraq’s two-pronged struggle to survive

In Iraq, two battles are unfolding: one political and one that is causing a humanitarian crisis.

Iraq is facing battles on two fronts as political infighting continues in the capital while armed groups are forcing civilians to flee in the north.

In Baghdad, Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki is losing support in his bid for another term.

While in the north, thousands of people have fled their homes in fear of Islamic State fighters.

Al Jazeera’s Jane Arraf reports from Erbil.
