Residents flee fighting in Ukraine’s Donetsk
Troops retake pro-Moscow rebels’ strongholds in east as residents try to escape intensifying battles there.

Ukrainian government forces have retaken a number of towns in the east. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled their homes to escape fighting in the east, focused on the rebel-controlled city of Donetsk.
