World Cup misery for uprooted Rio residents

Resentment simmers in Brazil city over neighbourhoods displaced by tournament which are now wasteland.

Brazil has been heavily criticised for uprooting tens of thousands of people from poor neighbourhoods in Rio de Janeiro in the run-up to the World Cup. Some who were living on state land were left homeless, while others were relocated.
