Canadians abandon islands as fish stocks drop

Many in Newfoundland communities accept government incentive to relocate after dwindling fish stocks hit livelihoods.

Fishing once supported the livelihoods of hundreds of remote communities on the Canadian island of Newfoundland.

However, declining fish stocks have sent these outposts into slow decline, prompting the government to offer residents money to settle elsewhere.
