Obama takes action to fix immigration crunch

US president asks Congress for $2bn to help improve border security and stem tide of child migrants from South America.

US President Barack Obama has asked Congress for $2bn to help improve border security.

The administration is struggling to deal with the growing tide of child migrants running from violence and poverty in Central America.

More than 50,000 children from central America have illegally crossed into the US since October, throwing the immigration system into complete disarray.
