Bangladesh faces growing trade in fake drugs

Government says at least ten percent of medicines sold in pharmacies are counterfeit.

The World Health Organisation estimates that nearly 10 percent of all drugs sold worldwide are fake.

And a recent study says 100,000 people die each year from taking fake medicine.

Continuing our series on the impact of counterfeit medicine – Bangladesh’s government says at least ten percent of the medicine sold in pharmacies across the country are fake.

Al Jazeera’s Maher Sattar travelled to Tangail in Bangladesh  to meet the mother of one of the youngest victims.
