US youth detention centre under scrutiny

Facility criticised for its poor conditions and inhumane treatment of children, opens its door to the media.

The US Border Patrol has allowed media to film inside a youth detention centre in the state of Arizona. The facility had been criticised for the inhumane and unfit conditions children were forced to live in.

US President Barack Obama has described the surge of unaccompanied children coming to the US as an urgent humanitarian situation.
