Argentinians pin hope on Lionel Messi

Many of Argentina’s hopes and expectations in the World Cup rest on the shoulders of star player Lionel Messi.

The multi-awarded footballer, who plays in the Spanish club FC Barcelona, grew up in the Argentinian river port city of Rosario.

Some in his country said Messi would never be considered a true great until he leads his country to its third World Cup victory.
