Limited choices for women in Nigeria’s north

Cultural traditions and economic challenges push women away from schools and into early marriages.

Boko Haram’s attacks on schools in Nigeria have taken a toll on education.
But even before the recent violence and last month’s kidnapping of more than 270 women and girls from a school, women in the largely impoverished north did not have many choices.
