US searches for firefighting solutions

Researchers work to find the most effective ways to fight wildfires as California enters peak forest fire season.

Scientists at the US Forest Service’s hi-tech fire research lab in Riverside California are gathering data to help firefighters control wildfires.

Ten-thousand hectares of forest have been scorched, a dozen structures destroyed and one person has burned to death as wildfires rage across the US state of California.

The state is entering the peak of its fire season, and a blaze near the Camp Pendleton military base is still burning out of control.

Al Jazeera’s Rob Reynolds reports from Riverside.
