One million commuters hit by Rio strike

Walkout over pay by bus drivers in Brazilian city puts pressure on authorities just over a month before World Cup opens.

Bus drivers in Rio de Janeiro have staged a 48-hour walkout in a dispute over pay and working conditions.

The industrial action leaves more than a million people without transport in a city due to host World Cup matches in just over a month.

A court has ordered the majority of drivers to return to work but it is not clear whether they will comply.

Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports.
