UN slams Canada for failing indigenous people

Special rapporteur calls for Ottawa to do more to improve lives of community in terms of housing, health and education.

The United Nations special rapporteur on indigenous peoples has criticized Canada for not doing enough to improve the lives of First Nation Canadians.

James Anaya toured Canada last October and published an extensive report on his findings.

He recommended more funding for education, health, and housing and also called for an urgent investigation on rising numbers of missing girls and women from the community.
