Catholic leaders slam Argentina corruption
Rising tide of violence and corruption angers some of the country’s Catholic bishops – but government won’t take blame.

A group of Roman Catholic bishops in Argentina has said the country is sick with violence.
The bishops statement compared corruption in the country to a cancer “causing injustice and death”.
The government of President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner responded by saying there was a “deliberate attempt” to blame it for the insecurity.
The relationship between Kirchner and the Catholic church had been tense, but improved lately since the election of Pope Francis, who is also from Argentina.
