Malaysia to impose new goods and services tax
Opponents say tax to be introduced next year is regressive and will end up hurting the poor more than the rich.

Thousands of people in Malaysia are expected to protest against a government plan to impose a goods and services tax.
Basic food items and public services will be exempt from the planned tax to be introduced next April.
Opponents say of the tax say it is regressive because it will hurt the poor more than the rich.
