Canada separatist party voted out of office

Election defeat is major setback to party seeking statehood for French-speaking province of Quebec.

Pauline Marois, the leader of Parti Quebecois, a Canadian separatist party, has resigned after her party was defeated in an early election.

The vote is a major setback for those in Quebec province who want to separate from Canada and create a new French-speaking state.
