Pakistan prison under fire for art classes
Karachi inmates say scheme helps them cope and think about their mistakes but critics say jail should be for punishment.

A prison in the Pakistani city of Karachi has been criticised for offering arts and education classes to its inmates.
Officials at the city’s main prison have defended the programme, which teaches prisoners how to draw, paint and play musical instruments. Some inmates have even had their work displayed in high-end art galleries.
Critics say that the scheme will not rehabilitate offenders and that prison should be about punishing criminals.
