US top court upholds affirmative action ban

Michigan voters are free to outlaw the use of race as a factor in college admissions, the Supreme Court has ruled.

The US Supreme Court has dealt a blow to affirmative action, or positive discrimination as its also known.
 
The decision could have far reaching implications on how students are admitted to colleges.
