Mexico steps up efforts to treat Trachoma
Health workers say more needs to be done about the underlying causes that produce the illness.

The Mexican government has increased its efforts to treat the disease Trachoma, which affects the eye and can cause blindness.
Communities in Chiapas, one of the country’s poorest states, have higher rates of prevalence because of poor hygiene and a lack of medicine.
Health workers say they have to overcome mistrust among the population to eradicate the illness but the government is doing little to alleviate the underlying causes for its spread.
