US region struggles with literacy woes

Its famous schools notwithstanding, nearly 80 percent of American children in Mississippi Delta cannot read properly.

The US has some of the best schools in the world, but not everyone benefits. And there is one state in particular where nearly 80 percent of fourth graders cannot read properly.
