US threatens S Sudan rivals with sanctions
US has provided South Sudan with more than $400m of aid and is angry that civil war has broken out.

The US government has threatened South Sudan’s leaders and opposition rebels with sanctions if they do not lay down arms.
The Obama administration has spent more than $80m in emergency aid for people displaced by the conflict and says both sides need to cease hostilities to avoid sanctions.
However, Sudanese officials say the country needs more than punishment to resolve its crisis.
