‘Creative’ laureate a first for US city
Portland’s cultural ambassador is tasked with promoting arts projects within the community.

Portland has become the first US city to name a creative laureate. The role is to get people to think artistically about where they live and promote art projects.
However, the cultural ambassdor insists it’s not just about the arts, but inspiring the local community.
