South Beirut rallies to Hezbollah

People living in Hezbollah strongholds in Beirut’s southern suburbs are apprehensive about leaving their homes due to the possibility of suicide attacks.

A street in Haret Hreik was the site of two suicide car bombs in January alone.

Al-Qaeda affiliated groups claimed the attacks punished Hezbollah for sending fighters to assist the government in Syria.

But even though the people of southern Beirut remain the targets of future bombings, most believe Hezbollah’s intervention in Syria is legitimate and justified.
