Panama Canal expension halted over costs

A $1.6bn project to expand one of the world’s busiest waterways is on hold. The Spanish-led company in charge of renovating the Panama Canal has stopped work in a dispute over costs.
On Friday the contractors made a new offer solve the dispute. But with the sides so far apart a deal will be difficult to unlock.
