UK takes action on female genital mutilation

Female genital mutilation has been a crime in Britain since 1985, but no one has ever been prosecuted.

The UK Government has announced a major campaign to help victims who have been subjected to female genital mutilation.

The move coincides with a worldwide day for action against  FGM, a practice that has ruined the lives of tens of millions of women around the world.
