Japan launches eye on Earth’s weather
The first of nine satellites will monitor rain and snow to help forecast extreme weather.

NASA and Japan’s Space Agency are about to launch one of the most sophisticated satellites ever made.
It is the first of nine satellites and it will monitor rain and snowfall to advance scientists’ understanding of Earth’s climate and improve the forecasting of extreme weather.
Once all nine satellites are up, they will provide data on most of the planet every three hours.
