Ukraine’s stalemate prompts currency plunge

As anti-government protests drag on in already struggling former Soviet state, its national currency takes a hit.

The national currency has plummeted, forcing the central bank to implement a series of emergency measures.

There has been a spike in petrol prices too, fuelling fears that inflation may lie ahead.
