Battles rage for control of Iraq’s Kirkuk
While Peshmerga forces have held Kirkuk, ISIL has been unrelenting in its attempt to take the resource-rich city.

On the frontlines outside the Iraq’s city of Kirkuk, contact between Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is regular.
While Kurdish forces’ lines have held so far, there is continuing fear as ISIL fighters have been unrelenting in their operation to takeover oil-rich Kirkuk.
