Waterway project awarded to Chinese-born businessman to affect nearly 300 communities and displace many families.

Nicaragua is set to begin construction of a controversial canal that will go through the country. Nearly 300 communities will be affected, and many families will be forced out of their homes.

Thousands of Nicaraguans have been protesting for months, saying the project that was given to Chinese-born businessman is a sell-out.
