Kurds battle ISIL for control of Mount Sinjar

Iraq’s Peshmerga fighters facing stiff resistance from ISIL as they attempt to break the group’s siege of Mount Sinjar.

Kurdish Peshmerga fighters are facing stiff resistance from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), as they attempt to break the group’s siege of Iraq’s Sinjar Mountains.

Hundreds of people from the Yazidi minority have been trapped on the mountain since ISIL stormed Sinjar and other Kurdish-controlled parts of northern Iraq in August.

Al Jazeera’s Mohammed Adow reports from Erbil in northern Iraq.
