Testing time for UN’s Darfur mission

Ties strained between UNAMID and Khartoum government over efforts to investigate alleged mass rape by Sudanese troops.

Sudan has called for an end to the UN’s peacekeeping mission in Darfur known as UNAMID. Relations have been strained between UNAMID and the Khartoum government since the mission tried to investigate allegations that Sudanese soldiers raped up to 200 women in Tabit, a village in north Darfur, in October.
