Burkina Faso interim president begins term

Interim President Michel ‎Kafando officially takes over from Colonel Isaac Zida, who briefly ruled after military coup.

Burkina Faso’s new interim President Michel Kafando has officially started his one-year term. 

Power was handed to him by the man responsible for the military takeover, Isaac Zida, who is now the new interim Prime Minister.

However, regional leaders are warning that come election time next year, Zida will have to step aside.
