Nepal’s deadly roads
String of recent accidents highlights the scourge of transport cartels in the mountainous country.

At least 24 people are feared dead and many are missing after a bus plunged into a river in west Nepal.
The accident is the latest in a string of similar incidents in the past two months in which more than 300 people have lost their lives.
But bad roads are not the only reason why Nepal’s roads are so deadly – transport cartels’ influence over authorities play a big role.
