Haftar’s forces claim gains in Benghazi

Former general’s forces are waging a war against an alliance of Libyan fighters including Ansar al-Sharia.

Libyan forces aligned to former general Khalifa Haftar say they have made gains in Benghazi and the western mountains.

Since May, Haftar has been waging a war against an alliance of fighters including Ansar al-Sharia – a group declared a “terrorist organisation” by the US.

Meanwhile, the government in Tripoli has warned regional powers to stop interfering in its internal affairs.
