Russian volunteers are searching former World War II battlefields for the remains of soldiers who are listed as “missing in action” to give them a proper burial.
An estimated 70 million people were killed during World War II and more than a third were lost on the Russian front. Four million are still missing.
But with winter on its way, the annual search for the dead must be abandoned until spring.
