Cyclists in Kolkata are hoping that a ban on bicycles will be lifted, allowing them greater mobility in the sprawling metropolis.
Kolkata, one of India’s most polluted and crowded cities, introduced the law a year ago, spurring debate over the country’s attitudes towards the poor. And for many who depend on cycling for their livelihood, the ban has severely affected their lives.
