Iraq taxi drivers struggle to bypass conflict

Drivers face dangerous journeys daily due to ISIL and Shia armed groups, which have taken over main roads.

Taxi drivers cannot travel safely through many areas across Iraq due to the ongoing conflict between the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) and the country’s army.

The drivers say that besides ISIL, which has taken over many main roads, they also face a growing threat of Shia armed groups who are fighting alongside the government.

Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr reports from northern Iraq.
