Thousands of students protest in Egypt

Thousands of anti-government student protesters take to the streets, with more demonstrations planned for Monday.

Thousands of students of prominent universities in Egypt have taken to the streets to protest against ‘military rule’ before the academic year begins on Sunday.

The movement, dubbed as ‘students are back’ by the organisers, opposes the 2013 coup that overthrew former president, Mohamed Morsi. Six students were arrested.

More protests are planned for Monday – this time by university staff against – a proposed overhaul of college laws.
