North Korea has celebrated the 69th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party, but for the first time in three years Kim Jong Un missed the festivities.
The authoritarian leader, who’s reportedly nursing a leg injury, hasn’t been seen publicly in more than a month.
Thousands poured onto the streets of the capital to pay their respects to the party’s leaders, including founder, Kim Il Sung.
Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo gained rare access to celebrations in Pyongyang.
