Thousands of boys from rural areas in Senegal are sent to the capital Dakar to study Islam.
But instead of learning, many are forced into conditions of near-slavery.
Known as Talibés, at least 10,000 boys are begging for money for several hours each day in the capital, and often face neglect and abuse at the hands of their teachers.
Al Jazeera’s Malcolm Webb reports from Dakar.
